The Missouri Department of Conservation operates a trout hatchery in the park and stocks the spring branch daily during the regular fishing season(March 1 - Oct. 31).

During the "no creel" season, anglers can fish on a catch-and-release basis.  The season runs Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays from the second Friday in November to the second Sunday in February.

bulletZone 1:  From the hatchery dam upstream to the end of the area. Only fishing flies may be used.  A fly is defined as a lure constructed on a single point hook of feathers, tinsel, chenille, yarn, fur, hair, silk, rayon, or nylon thread or floss, with or without a spinner.
bulletZone 2:  From the hatchery dam to the whistle bridge. Only selected artificial lures are permitted.  These are manufactured lures, including flies.  These lures MAY NOT contain natural food substances, fluids, soft plastic, rubber parts or sponge.  Spinners and treble hooks are allowed.
bulletZone 3:  From the whistle bridge to the Niangua River.  Only natural baits and those artificial lures prohibited in the other zones are permitted.  Spinners may be included on baits.
